A monthly feature of RGHF (Rotary Global History)

Rotary Global History Day was created, by RGHF, to bring attention to the
vital role that history plays in preserving Rotary. RGHF preserves history
to help ensure the future growth of Rotary. Each month RGHF will select an
example of Rotary History, found on the internet. This month we feature
North Penn, District 7430

 FEATURED HISTORY

The Rotary Club of North Penn's major fundraiser is the annual outdoor
Lansdale Day celebration on Main Street, downtown Lansdale, PA. The
proceeds from this event are given to local charities in the North Penn
community. This old-fashioned community project has always been successful,
usually with an attendance in excess of 10,000. We have lots of delectable
food, great music, entertainment and fun activities in three staging areas,
a community market place, and an ANTIQUES & ARTS FESTIVAL - a juried
invitational showcase of fine artists, selected artisans and antique
dealers. http://www.rotaryfirst100.org/districts/districts/7430.htm

 COMMENTARY

This month we recognize a Rotary Global History that shows the importance
of creating the basics. There are clubs which have created extensive
histories including photos, charter members, past officers, and several
pages of history. However, it is vital to post something of your history.
There should be 33,000 club histories and 532 district histories. Your
history will prepare your future and everyone can contribute. An
understanding of the Global History of Rotary will help all clubs to retain
valued members. I personally believe that all presidents elect should read
at least one book by Paul Harris to learn how all this began.
www.whatpaulharriswrote.org <http://www.whatpaulharriswrote.org/> contains
virtually everything he ever wrote or said. RGHF is a good 24/7 source for
your club.

 Yours for Rotary Global History,

Jack Selway, RGHF Founder and Chair Emeritus
