District 9640 promotes the programs that motivate, educate and provide real life experiences to help mould our young people into fine citizens and future leaders. The 3 "R" seminars are aimed at different age groups but take similar forms as they are all intensive personal and leadership development experiences. ROTEX A 3 day non-residential science program designed for students entering Year 10. Seminars are held at selected Universities in January. HONEYWELL ENGINEERING SUMMER SCHOOL (NSW Schools Only) A one week residential program for students entering year 12 in January of the following year. Opportunity to attend lectures at Australian Universities on various engineering disciplines. NATIONAL YOUTH SCIENCE FORUM (NYSF) A two week long school which is held in January, in Canberra. This forum
is a career orientated youth program for science students who will have
completed year 11. MODEL UNITED NATIONS ASSEMBLY (MUNA) Model United Nations Assembly has the aim of building bridges of goodwill for world peace and understanding in the minds of youth. The main aims of MUNA are:

Assists with the formation of a service and social organisation for students
between 14-18 years who meet regularly to promote International understanding
and service to the community. Interact Clubs can be school or community
based. YOUTH SUICIDE PREVENTION PROGRAM This committee promotes the awareness of the serious problem of youth
suicide and provides information to clubs and individuals with the aim
of reducing the incidence of youth suicide. This is a week long camp held in Canberra structured so as to stimulate year 11 delegates to think about Australia it's political culture, its economy and it's legal system. |
