Enthusiastic young business and professional people sought for a vocational and cultural study tour to Missouri in 2010

Rotary clubs are seeking enthusiastic business and professional people for a vocational and cultural study tour to visit : Missouri for four weeks during September/October 2010 through the Group Study Exchange Program of the Rotary Foundation.

The program strives to improve international understanding by enabling people from different countries to learn from each other on a personal level. While abroad, team members stay with Rotarians to observe their host's way of life and study the nation's economic, social and cultural characteristics through travel and discussions within participating Rotary districts. Team members also have an opportunity to meet their professional counterparts. Travel and accommodation is fully funded by the Rotary Foundation, local Rotary Clubs and Rotarians.

Applicants need to be: Australian citizens; aged between 25 and 40; committed and enthusiastic business people or professionals; personable, articulate, cooperative and able to fulfill the rigorous demands of international travel; and, able to participate in an intensive itinerary. Applicants need also to be employed or reside in Rotary District 9640 and have been employed in their business or profession for a minimum of two years. Rotarians and relatives of Rotarians are not eligible to apply.

TEAM MEMBER APPLICANTS applications close 12th March 2010

Team Member applicants must be:
• Citizens of Australia and be employed or reside in our Rotary District 9640.
• Have good health, of neat appearance and be able to express themselves clearly and logically.
• Have a sound educational background and be academically well qualified.
• Interested in and clearly enthusiastic about their chosen vocations and have recognised vocational skills.
• Employed in a full time recognised business or profession for at least two years prior to this application and aged between 25 and 40 years. Candidates who turn 25 before the end of the exchange are eligible. A candidate who has not turned 41 before the start of travel on the exchange is also eligible.

Each Group Study Exchange (GSE) team will be made up of one (1) Rotarian Team Leader and four (4) Team Members.

Please Note: A person is not eligible to be a member of a GSE Team if they are a Rotarian, an employee of a Rotary Club, District or other Rotary entity of Rotary International, a Rotarian’s or a Rotary employee’s spouse, ancestor (parent or grandparent by blood relation) or lineal descendant (child or grandchild by blood and any legally adopted children) and a spouse of a lineal descendent.

TEAM LEADER APPLICANTS applications close 5th March 2010

Team Leader applicants must be:
• Experienced Rotarians, especially in International Service.
• Well informed on Rotary and Australia.
• Available and responsible for team preparation and training prior to departure.
• Able to assume complete charge of their team, possess outstanding interpersonal communication skills to enable them to act as advisor and counsellor when the need arises, and be able to liaise between host clubs, the host district at large and their team.
• Prepared to remain with their team for the duration of the study tour.
• Willing and able, physically and otherwise, to keep pace with the vigorous program of study planned for the team members.

HOW TO SUBMIT GSE APPLICATIONS
Applicants for either Team Leader or Team Member must fill out the appropriate forms including "GSE Form A - Additional Information Team Leader" or "GSE Form B - Additional Information Team Member" and submit them to their own Rotary Club for Rotarian Team Leaders or for Team Members to the nearest Rotary Club for processing. Rotary Club's are to process the applications and submit supporting detail to the GSE Committee by the closing date. The applications will be reviewed by the District GSE Committee and the applicant will be contacted direct to advise times and dates for Committee Interviews.
