Report on the District Membership Seminar - M'Ship Chair John Burns

It was pleasing to see the dedicated Rotarians from 29 Clubs roll up for The District 9640 Membership Seminar held at Robina High on Sunday 24th August 2008.

After brief introductions, the assembly broke into working groups where anything and everything to do with Clubs and Membership was discussed. The meeting then came back together and discussed the findings. Discussion was vigorous and it was great to see the willing participation of all attendees. It was a great day of fellowship between new members, and short term, and long term members. The results are being compiled to send out to all Clubs.

It must be emphasized that Membership is the responsibility of each and every Rotarian. Without new members your Club will eventually fade away. If you had not been invited to join Rotary, would you have the friends and acquaintances that you have today?

We hear about the family of Rotary. Perhaps it should be called our extended family. Most who attend regular meetings, would perhaps have a closer bond, and see more of fellow Rotarians, than members of their own family spread around the globe.

Give someone else the opportunity to have that extended family. Ask them if they would like to have a look at what Rotary has to offer. Tell them what you get out of Rotary.
Paul Harris missed his family and their support.

So began Rotary.
