ROTARY FOUNDATION IN ACTION

INTERNATIONAL SERVICE IN ACTION

Keep Your Rotary Foundation dream alive.

This year every Club in our District has agreed to participate in a Matching Grant to work with other Clubs and Districts around the world from Japan, USA, UK, Belgium, Norway, India, Nepal and New Zealand to target areas of need in Nepal, Bangladesh, East Timor, Argentina, Fiji, PNG, Cambodia, Thailand, Equador, India, Kenya and Uganda.
Projects involve Cataract operations and eye camps, Artificial limb fitting camps, land mine clearing, family health clinics, low cost shelters and schools, literacy, malaria bednet supply, micro-enterprise funding for sewing machines, biogas plant, hearing aids, horticulture and irrigation, seed banks and general health. This would not be possible without your Rotary Foundation.
Each year our Rotary Foundation, through its many programs, enables dramatic changes to millions of lives. The Rotary Foundation offers opportunities for Rotarians, Rotary Clubs and Districts to combine their strengths and carry out larger service activities than would ever be possible at the individual, Club or District level.
It is because of the combined efforts and generous financial support of Rotarians, Partners and Families worldwide that the Foundation can ;

  • Offer one of the worlds finest and largest private International Scholarship programs sending 1200 men and women to study abroad each year.
  • Offer its Group Study Exchange program which sends more than 2000 men and women abroad each year to experience vocations and culture in another country.
  • Fund its Humanitarian Grants programs - Matching Grants, Helping Grants, Health Hunger and Humanity Grants (3-H), Discovery Grants, New Opportunity Grants and its Peace Programs.
  • Fund such efforts as the Rotary Grants for University Teachers, Grants for Rotary Volunteers and Discovery Grants.
  • Mobilise the Global drive that has made great strides in eradicating Polio.

Contributions to the Foundation qualify for charitable tax deductions.
Rotarians care, we want to make a difference but we must continue giving to our Foundation to make the opportunities possible.
This Rotary year we will be looking for opportunities to offer our time, our hearts, and our hands to others.

Another direct benefit of the Foundation Programs is Group Study Exchange and I welcome our Rotarian Team Leaders for 2001. Heather.
