ROTARACTOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

The Rotaract District Changeover held on 1st July 2000 saw the inaugural awarding of Certificates as part of the Rotaractor Development Program. The 'Graduation Ceremony' included the presentation of eleven Degrees in Rotaract, four Honours in Rotaract and two Masters in Rotaract. These awards were presented by DG Heather and Richard Bell (District Rotaract Representative 1999-2000). This was a memorable occasion for the Rotaractors receiving their qualification in Rotaract and was a recognition of our organisations most valuable resource, it's people.
The Development Program, designed specifically for Rotaract, is used by clubs to improve membership retention and activity through reward, recognition and development of Rotaract 'career paths'. The program falls under the Professional Development Directorship in each club, with Presidents having general oversight. After only one year of operation the program has already seen vast improvements in membership levels, quality and activity where clubs have implemented the program effectively. The end result of a program such as this is the ability for Rotaract to develop committed and enthused new members, who can appreciate the intrinsic rewards of being active within a community service organisation.

Bill Bonner

If things are going to happen in your community locally, Nationally and Internationally it will be because YOU made it happen. Unsung community hero's One of the key interests for 2000 - 2001 is for all Clubs to recognize other organisations in our local community.
How?
Each Club is encouraged to recognize 10 unsung community hero's, by January 2001. Please note every Club has been given 10 certificates with the Club name printed on it together with 10 certificate frames. So what do we do? Find 10 Hero's.
Where?
Meals on wheels, Red Cross, Salvation Army, Neighbourhood watch, Hospitl volunteers, Youth Counsellors, Sports and Church organisations. Each Hero will be presented with a certificatee at your Rotary meeting. This will surely create awareness in your community. Congratulations Rotary Club of…… Each Hero will be personally invited to attend our District Conference to again be recognized.

Transplant Education

Give of Yourself. What would you do if you or a family member needed a transplant?
The facts - Transplant save lives - 10 organ transplants, 5000 cornea, bone marrow and other tissue transplants since 1970 - Over 90% of transplants are successful
The Problem - 1000's of children and adults are either leading severely handicapped lives or dying because there are insufficient organs for transplant. The solution - Transplant education - Decide to be an organ donor.
