New Generations in Action

RYLA Program runs from 10 to 16th of February

Awardees still sought

Clubs worldwide are dedicated to helping young people develop their leadership skills to the fullest. To achieve this goal Rotary offers RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards), a week long leadership training program open to people between 18 to 28 years. Clubs wishing to share the Tuesday Rotary evening with their sponsored Awardee should contact District Chair Roy Hornsby 07 5594 0647.

RYLA 2001 team leader Jane Hoffman accepts a sponsorship cheque from Michael Palmer, Manager Telstra Lismore.

Telstra sponsorship indicates the high public recognition of RYLA.

Children at Risk Task Force
We tend to associate Children at Risk with developing countries, but there is ample evidence of problems in our own country. Youth suicide and drug abuse are just 2 evils which affect all socio-economic groups. These are things that Rotary can do something about, providing we are aware of our skill limitations and the opportunity to work with others. Is your youth service program mainly about youth exchange, Science forums etc. Great though those programs are, shouldn't we be working towards a better community by tackling the issues which put our children and grand children at risk? For more details.. Coordinator Brian Coleman bcoleman@tpgi.com.au

Russ Morgan's commitment

Russ flew from work in California USA to attend the December YEP briefing Camp. We wish all students a life changing experience.

Remember our contributions never leave Australia. We receive more money from the Foundation programs than we give. Consider the ongoing benefits of naming a Paul Harris Fellow. What is The Rotary Foundation Alumni? Past Rotary Foundation Awaredees; Ambassadorial Scholars, Group Study Exchange Members, Rotary Foundation Volunteers, University Teacher Grant recipients.
Our District Alumni committee has an active role to play in maintaining a current register of present and past Foundation program awardees. It is able to supply Clubs with names of guest speakers on many topics. An Alumni lunch is planned for February 4 at Murwillumbah Golf Club at 1 pm (NSW Time) $15 pp. All Alumni and Rotarians and Partners are most welcome. Details contact Chair Lew Verney. 07 4671 3462
