I only have praise for you

Last month I shared some of my recent "extra Rotary experiences" of a FAIM trip and now I have more to share arising from that story. Recall my story "I only have eyes for you.. or do I?"
To date I have funds for 102 cataract operations as a direct result of your generosity. I have been assisted by PP Nan Baldwin who personally collected nearly half that total also RC's of Soutport North, Iluka, Boonah, Goondiwindi, Ballina-On-Richmond, Stanthorpe, Murwillumbah Central, Ashmore and Lismore. It was exciting opening your Christmas cards but to find cheques enclosed was humbling. On behalf of the people in Bali who next Christmas will be "in the light" I thank you. To me that is a "Rotary Christmas". Enjoy your sight.

You will see 2 Book Reviews within and I strongly recommend them especially Sir Clem's which deals with Health, Hunger and Humanity. Like many good things it will be available to you at your District Conference at Seagulls 23-25 March. You will be at Seagulls won't you? Now that the Matching Grants that all Clubs are involved in are down to the final paperwork ready to go to Your Rotary Foundation, we are concentrating on the final stages of plans for a very humanitarian Conference involving youth, great keynote speakers from around Australia who are leaders in their field as well as one all the way from Alaska to share his personal experiences in Eastern Russia.
We have engaged a Rock and Roll Band which includes a Rotarian so we get it "just right" and plan to blend a glittering evening of Mexican (all ties banned) bandana and maracca experience. We will see you at Seagulls as that is where everyone will be. Registration forms are now out and I understand many have booked their motel.

Leading up to Christmas Ian and I attended many very satisfying Community Hero Presentations and also HungerPlus meals. We really have come to like the soup with a "littlePlus" salt. Clubs have been quite inovative and we even had soup in the "Little Brown Church" at Jimboomba. They donated $271.95 from that special evening. RC of Ballina $260, Goondiwindi $200, Glen Innes $171. I sent every Club Member a packet of dehydrated HungerPlus soup, in October, for you to experience that which many hope to have as a daily ration in the less privileged parts of our world. Please enjoy the soup and please make your donations so we can support the Rotary HungerPlus Matching Grant and the PolioPlus Partners programs that serves the needy and help complete the eradication of Polio. This is a very simple and very very effective means of support.

Thank you. Your Rotary Friend Heather

Called to Higher Service. "Howard practiced Service Above Self and he did it without fanfare or public acknowledgement. There are many people in this community who have been 'served' by Howard Timms." A copy of the eulogy by PDG Dug Graydon may be seen here.
